Eczema herpeticum is a widespread,potentially serious viral infection of the skin.
It can affect people most commonly with atopic eczema and other inflammatory skin conditions.
It can be caused by any herpes virus (HSV 1, HSV 2, varicella-zoster) on a background of atopic eczema, most commonly HSV type 1.
