Charlotte had a positive immune reactive trypsin (IRT) result on Newborn Screening and her sample was further processed to find 2 delta F508 mutations in CF Gene (delta F508 homozygous) on genotyping. She is now under the care of the Paediatric respiratory team with her parents.

An important part of long term management is monitoring feeding and growth. Charlotte is exclusively breastfed at present and feeds every 2-3 hours. She opens her bowels up to 8 times a day, the stool is yellow with a mustard seed appearance and not oily.

Open Question

She was born weighing 4.03kg at 41+5 weeks gestation following induction of labour. At 2 weeks she weighed 4.44kg and at 3 weeks she weighs 4.75kg. Comment on her growth (you will need to use the appropriate growth chart for a female infant found here and attached below) and what part of routine management may contribute to optimising her growth?
